Important Reminder – Meet Participation Matters
Dear Swim Team Families,
We hope you're all enjoying the start of the summer season! We wanted to reach out regarding a challenge we’re facing this year that affects the entire team.
Our roster is smaller than usual, with only 70 swimmers—including 16 Little Piranhas—which means we truly rely on everyone to participate in our dual meets. While summer swim is more relaxed than winter club teams, participation in meets is still an essential part of the experience. When swimmers are absent, we’re unable to fill heats, which results in forfeited points and missed opportunities for relays—ultimately putting our team at a significant disadvantage from the start.
More importantly, it’s also a letdown for those swimmers who do attend and are eager to compete with their teammates. There’s nothing quite like the energy of summer meets—the entire team, from 6 to 18 years old, cheering each other on. It’s a special experience that builds confidence, camaraderie, and unforgettable memories.
If your swimmer is attending practices but not planning to swim in meets, we kindly ask you to consider whether swim team or swim lessons is the better fit. Swim team participation includes both practices and meets. Please also note: we pay league dues for each swimmer regardless of meet attendance, and moving forward, we may need to pass this cost along to families whose swimmers choose not to compete.
We’ve noticed that several younger swimmers who are eligible have not yet participated in a meet. We encourage you to nudge your swimmer to give it a try—even if they’re unsure or nervous. Every swimmer starts somewhere, and seeing their teammates cheer them on across the pool is something truly magical.
Lastly, we understand transportation can be a hurdle. If getting to meets is difficult, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We're happy to help coordinate carpools—our community is here to support each other.
Thank you for being part of the team, and for helping us make this a successful and spirited season for all.
